Sustainability

Roslyn Primary School takes pride in its development of environmental initiatives. We are a part of the AussiVic ResourceSmart Schools initiative where schools take action to minimise waste, save energy and water, promote biodiversity and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Through this initiative, we will reduce costs while providing students with the opportunity to learn about sustainability in a tangible and realistic environment. Our program aims to instill a feeling of environmental responsibility in all our students.

At Roslyn Primary School we have implemented a co-mingled recycling system, where paper, cardboard, plastics, glass, metal and aluminium are all recycled. In addition to this, we have a food waste program that feeds our school chickens and a waste reduction program that aims to influence the actions of students and staff both at school and in their own homes.

To ensure the longevity of our Sustainability Program, Roslyn Primary School has elected a Sustainability Coordinator who works alongside a student leadership team to implement a whole-school approach to sustainability.

Through curriculum programs and policy development, we endeavour to make sustainability a strong base for all decision-making.
