Year 6 Transition

To support our Students Going to High School

We have a special relationship with Belmont High School that provides the senior students at Roslyn Primary School additional opportunities to experience life at High School beyond the normal transition program and to begin to develop relationships with the staff at the school. Some of the activities we do with Belmont High throughout the year include: using their science labs, their home economics rooms, having PE lessons with their teachers, using the school library and computer lab.  Some of our Grade 6 students are members of the High school band.

Throughout the year we also have many Belmont High students come in to our school for a wide variety of reasons.  Our students become familiar with older students, developing relationships that last when our students get to High School.  Activities that have happened this year include: a Big Brother program with an older boy mentoring a younger boy, Chess club, coaching in a variety of sports, classroom helpers, VCAL students working in classes with teachers and students.  These opportunities are endless based on the ideas that we can think of!
