The vibrant music curriculum at Roslyn Primary School offers a developmental music program for all year levels. The aim of our program is to give students the opportunity to be imaginative and creative through music while developing musical skills such as learning how to read musical notes while playing an instrument, or singing a song. All students have the opportunity to play on our extensive range of classroom instruments including a large range of percussion instruments, marimbas and ukuleles. It is through the experiences of playing, listening, creating, and appreciating music, that our students develop and learn for life.
Our senior students also have the opportunity to join the school’s ‘Marimba Group’. This group is provided with the chance to share their talents within the school community and the wider community through local festivals and other community events.
Every class from Foundation to Year Six participates in the bi-annual School Concert incorporating singing, dancing and acting. In 2013 our concert theme was ‘Safari’ with the concert held at ‘The Arena’ in September. In the alternative year, the school community participates in our ‘Family Dance’ where students learn set dances and have the opportunity to teach parents at our event. This evening always provides our community with a great family night out!
